‘Wonder Woman 2’ Taps ‘The Expendables’ Writer


“” has added Dave Callaham to the writing team. has confirmed that the co-writer of “” is joining Patty Jenkins and Geoff Johns on the writing team of the follow-up to this year’s box office hit.

News of Callaham’s hiring comes just a couple of days after Jenkins to co-write, direct and produce the “” sequel. The female filmmaker and president and CCO of DC Comics Johns have been working on a treatment for several months.

While details of “Wonder Woman 2” are still kept under tight wraps, Jenkins has said in interviews that she would like to set the upcoming superhero flick in America during the Cold War. Many believe it will be set in the 1980s, with the titular female superhero battling against Soviet forces.

has been confirmed to reprise her role as the superheroine, whose alter ego is Diana Prince. is also said to be returning to the sequel as the hero’s love interest Steve Trevor despite the leading man’s apparent death in the first movie.

Also seeing the return of as Queen Hippolyta, as General Antiope, Lucy Davis as Etta Candy, as Sir Patrick Morgan, as Doctor Isabel Maru (Doctor Poison) and as General Erich Ludendorff, the film is set to be released in U.S. theaters on December 13, 2019.

Callaham previously worked together with Jenkins on “”, which was in the works last year as an English-language remake of the 2011 Norwegian action comedy of the same name with and attached.

Aside from originating “The Expendables”, Callaham is known for writing 2005’s “” and 2014’s “”. He has also worked on a reboot of “”, which is due to be part of Universal’s monster cinematic universe.
